June and the Haystacks

June

June is a banjolele probably produced by the John G. Abbott workshops. The label on the peg head says it was sold by                 Will Van Allen and Olly Oakley's music shop at 61, Charing Cross Road, London between 1926 and 1929. It was donated to        The Happy Home for Interesting Banjos by friends Shelagh and Gary (it was Shelagh's dad's instrument). June had been resting in a shed for a few years.

Nurse Nancy carefully dismantled the instrument as far as she thought prudent before cleaning and polishing the parts.

Nurse Nancy then re-assembled June, adding strings and a bridge

The Haystacks

Unfortunately the brass tuners did not respond to Nurse Nancy's tlc and so will have to be replaced.
